Sicily is a beautiful country. It is very similar to (yet very different from) California. The mountains in Northern California are similar to the mountains in the Northern part of Sicily while the mountains in the Southern part of Sicily are similar to the Southern California mountains. The major distinction between the two countries is that towns and villages in the California mountains are built in the valleys while many of the towns in Sicily and other areas of Italy are built along the mountain side.
