My paternal grandparents came to the U.S.A. in the 1889 from
Santo Stefano Quisquina, Sicily. After entering the States through Ellis Island, my
grandparents moved to Florida where they eventually settled in Ybor City, Tampa's
Latin Quarter.
Although our family name is now Adamo, our ancestral name was
Scozzari or Scozzaro. Most of the family members know that our family
named was changed from Scozzari(o) to Adamo sometime in the early 1900's, but no
one knows for sure why the name was changed.. For more information on the
Adamo-Scozzari mystery, click on the Scozzari Mystery button.
Apparently, thanks to Art Adamo, we know that we are
descendants of nobility, the Baron of Solfaria. How we got from Solfaria
to Scozzari(o) is not known. We do know that the Baron came from Spain,
thus we also have Spanish ancestral lineage. The transcription of the
official document signifying the Baron of Solfaria is shown below.

The Scozzari Coat of Arms
(The mountains are the mountains of Sicily. The castle represents royalty and
the lion bravery)
Famiglia d'origine spagniola venita in Italia e propriamente a
Sutera Scicilia.

A family of Spanish heritage migrated to Italy, specifically
to the city of Sutera, Sicily. The first member of the family was named Paul and
on April 30, 1967 by the authorities, he obtained the title of Baron of Solfaria.
Title waas fully recognized by the Royal Seal on September 30, 1768. On April 7,
1769, the son of Paul married Lady Isabelle Ajala who had very little assets,
but who was born from the very noble family Ajala of Enna.
The above statement has guaranteed authenticity according to
the article of the penal codes 498.
