Rotary

What is Rotary?

Rotary is a service organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide who conduct humanitarian projects, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and work toward world understanding and peace.  We have over 1 million service-minded leaders

Early History of the Rotary Club of Cerritos

The Rotary Club of Cerritos was chartered on December 6, 1985.  Dr. Julius Coronado, a dentist in the Cerritos community and a former member of the Santa Fe Springs Rotary club initiated the call for establishing a Rotary club in Cerritos.  Dr. Coronado began early in 1985 to find business and community leaders in Cerritos.  He asked the Executive Director for the Cerritos Chamber of Commerce, Daryl Adams, to assist in finding business leaders willing and able to serve their community, their country, and the world.

By the summer of 1985, we had over 15 members.  With the help from the Santa Fe Springs Rotary club, our sponsoring club, and the Norwalk Rotary club (also know as Cerritos North club), we were able to bring in 24 members by December 1985 (four more than we needed to be chartered).  On December 6, 1985, Dr. Coronado began his official term as the President of the Rotary Club of Cerritos.

Since being chartered, we have implemented several projects in our community, won awards for our contributions, and provided assistance to the needy.
